Fonts are not rendered (impacts output quality) #106

Asked for help on the Snapcrafters forum: https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/fixing-fonts-on-the-freecad-snap/40026 |
@furgo16 Can you kindly share some logs by running the app from the terminal? |
@soumyaDghosh thanks. Are you looking for something specific? There is not much of an output running from the terminal and following the steps to reproduce:

Information on how to add font support to snaps seems inexistent, or at least I'm unable to find it. The closest I found was this comment from a bug report:

Digging deeper, it seems that fonts should be handled by the kde-neon extension, as defined in |

What's the status here ? |
Still an issue. It's my most wanted bugfix with the snap package. It means providing architectural or technical drawings that look minimally professional with an appropriate font is not possible. Questions on the snapcraft forum remained unanswered, so it seems there are no fonts experts around to help with this one. I can only guess that the |
TechDraw workbench does not seem to have this problem, so the application in general has access to host system fonts (actually, I don't know if these are host fonts or packaged fonts, but it doesn't matter). The problem may be more nuanced? Maybe debugging the Draft workbench would provide some info, but I don't know how to do that |
@Roy-043 would you have any idea why Draft and TechDraw differ on this issue? |
I have no idea. |
Probably not related, but as another font-related data point: FreeCAD/FreeCAD#9458 |
While a list of available system fonts is displayed whenever there is a font selector in the GUI, selecting any given font does not seem to have any effect. The font remains always the same.
