Overview

Based on concept testing, there is an opportunity to clarify the steps of the form creation process. It is recommended to:

  • Change the text in the progress indicator from “Create” to “Edit.”
  • Rename “Configure” or remove completely.

Context

This recommendation comes from the following analysis:

  • There is a lack of clarity about step indicator component terminology. Currently it is Upload > Create > Configure > Publish.
  • There is a desire for a more guided process of creating the form.
  • People want to understand how multiple forms fit into the menu.

@jimmoffet This issue was added as a result of the UX Concept testing in #116 . It needs further refinement and prioritization. It is a candidate for little to no design effort required. The risk with that is that Figma files will become stale.

UX considers this a minor feature/issue due to it coming up with some participants. Review details from the research in the research report.

Upload
Remove Upload. It’s not applicable to both paths, and it’s not a true step in that you cannot return to it.

Create
Change to Edit. More accurate.

Configure
Change to Settings, which may be clearer. Builders will have to pass through this page on their way to publishing, so it’s not a huge deal if it’s not obvious what it is ahead of time. “Settings” is probably the simplest change, but that doesn’t capture comments and history. It may make sense to break that out from actual configuration settings though. That can wait until we start working on settings and determine how that who interaction will work.

Publish
Keep this for now, but may change in the future based on what features get added to configure/publish.
