Problem
Current I-GUIDE Platform is based on JupyterHub environment which provides support for Python based notebooks and some support for R workloads with properly configured kernels. While this provides a good starting point, we have a number of non-python users/researchers as part of the I-GUIDE team.

Possible Solution
Open On-Demand is an open source solution which provides a lot more than just a Jupyter based environment. It also allows for integrating custom applications which will be helpful in engaging and expanding our user base.

If running directly on a HPC environment, this would solve a lot of our scale issues. The only concern is authentication. Anvil requires users of our OOD to come in with their own ACCESS account.

Deploying OOD in a cloud elsewhere may defeat its purpose.
