Numba is a required package for LASER but its support for NumPy 2.x lagged behind NumPy 2.x release.
See if Numba has caught up and NumPy 2.x can be supported

Note that this is a common problem with the default GitHub Codespace configuation - NumPy 2.x is installed, but we don't support it which requires manually uninstalling 2.x and installing 1.x.
