When something is getting scanned, SOMETHING happens and Windows entirely runs out of RAM, everything crashes, and locks up.

I don't know what is being scanned, I don't know exactly what happens, but something causes a memory overflow to the point where Explorer crashes and I have to reboot my PC with the power button because it becomes completely unresponsive.

Anyways, what on earth is happening here? I suspect it's something related to a specific game's files being analyzed. But which game and why?

I have 32GB of RAM, so I assume it's massive blob file, in which case there's a few games with massive blob files that could be a culprit.

Turns out, that drive is actually dying. It's about 9 years old so I think Compact itself was freaking out because dying drive.

TONS of pending sectors.

Oh also something in Windows itself is memory leaking because Explorer randomly balloons to using 5GB of RAM, which is, not normal.

Also not reproducible on other drives.
