Issue
Software raid (dynamic striped volume) on one or more HDD's in windows causes CompactGUI to hang up after clicking compress.

Context
I use software RAID-0 on my pair of old hard drives to give them a bit more speed, but they no longer work as of CompactGUI 3.6.0+. It seems to be the HDD detection feature. After clicking compress using any compression method, the GUI hangs on "working..." and doesn't do anything. Buttons can still be clicked (but do nothing) and the window can be closed, but the program itself has no activity. Compression was working completely fine on my dynamic disks using v3.5.1.

My other non-RAID singular drives (all SSD's) work perfectly fine on v3.6.0+.

How to reproduce

  1. Format 2 or more disks as dynamic striped volumes in windows
  2. Format the RAID-N volume to NTFS
  3. Run CompactGUI and compress any folder on the new volume

Affected versions
All verisons past v3.5.1

Not something I can test on my end unfortunately as I don't have spare drives to set up a RAID array on. Do you mind downloading this version of CompactGUI, and tell me what you get in the popup message box when you press Compress ?

Sure, of course. When I click Compress or any of the other buttons, nothing shows up - the behavior is the same. The CompactGUI you uploaded reports version 3.8.0dev1. Do I need to delete old configuration files before switching versions? Or can I run different versions freely? Just want to make sure I test this properly for you.

Can you try this one? After pressing Compress you should see four message boxes pop up sequentially (Step 1, Step 2, Step 3, Step 4). Let me know which Step it freezes after.

The version doesn't matter, it's just the dev version I'm currently on with a few other changes :) All other config files are still the same

Got it, thank you. I'll give this one a shot for you. Love this app btw, it's my favorite windows compact wrapper by far 👍 Will edit this comment with my results.

Just tried it, it displays step 1 and hangs after that.

Try this one, it should hopefully just work (without popup messages, I got rid of those)

Yes perfect! This version works for me, I'm able to compress files on my raid array now! Thank you.
