Several base glyphs in Courier New are given GDEF mark glyph class, resulting in rendering them with zero glyph advance and overlapping neighboring glyphs.

Checking version 6.92 of the fonts, all the following base glyphs have mark glyph class:

  • Regular and Bold:
    • letters: U+0181, U+0182, U+0183, U+0184, U+0185, U+0186, U+0187, U+0188, U+03FD, and U+0674
    • spacing marks: U+02DC, U+06E5, U+06E6, U+FBB2, U+FBB4, U+FBB6, U+FBB9, U+FC5E, U+FC5F, U+FC61, and U+FC62
  • Italic:
    • spacing marks: U+02DC
