Discussion of use of GO:Site of DNA damage and whether that is adequate for curating data sets, and whether DNA damage as a biological process of some sort is required.
Candidate definition: "A DNA Strand Break involves one or more disruptions of the covalent linkages among phosphodeoxyribose moieties within the sugar-phosphate backbone in one or in both strands of a DNA molecule. Possible causes are radiation, reactive oxygen species, and errors of DNA replication."
We would like input on whether DNA breaks are "metabolic process" given the definition of metabolic process in GO:
"The chemical reactions and pathways, including anabolism and catabolism, by which living organisms transform chemical substances. Metabolic processes typically transform small molecules, but also include macromolecular processes such as DNA repair and replication, and protein synthesis and degradation."
