Chromecast

ℹ️ Feature revised in v7.4.0

How to:

1. Go "MENU" > "Chromecast..." and select your device from the submenu.

   If you turned on your Chromecast after starting Tauon and its not appearing, restart Tauon.

2. The text "Chromecast mode" should appear in the top panel. Use player controls as normal. Playback should now be directed to your TV.
3. To stop casting, go back to "MENU" > "Chromecast..." and select "End cast". Playback should now be local again.

Current Limitations

• CUE sheet tracks don't work correctly (wip)
• Network tracks may not work? (wip)

This feature allows you to stream music to a Chromecast.

This feature currently has some limitations as it leverages the existing Radio Broadcast feature.

Prerequisite:

• Have an active Chromecast on the same network.
• [Non Flatpak users] Have installed the optional package AUR: python-pychromecast PIP: pychromecast.

How to use:

1. Go to MENU > Settings > Function (page 1) and enable the setting "Ready Broadcaster"
2. Go to MENU > Settings > Function (page 2) and enable the setting "Chromecast this"
3. Right click a track and click "Chromecast This"
4. Wait a moment, then select your chromecast name from the presented menu.
5. Wait up to ~40 seconds for audio to start playing on TV.
6. To stop: Select MENU > Stop Broadcast.

A future re-implementation of this feature may provide a better experience. Feel free to let me know if you're interested in that.
