How to create metadata for new StreamCat layers

We are using the EPA Open Data Metadata Editor now to edit metadata as non-spatial metadata records. Make sure to sign in with your EPA credentials.

  1. Adding new metadata Add metric information to O:\PRIV\CPHEA\PESD\COR\CORFILES\Geospatial_Library_Projects\StreamCat\MetaData\submit_metadata.csv, replacing any records currently in the file with new metrics to submit (pulled from StreamCat_metrics.csv in the same folder).
  2. Run write_edg_json.py
  3. Open the EPA Open Data Metadata Editor in a browser
    • Log in with EPA credentials
    • Click on EPA icon in upper left and choose 'Load' > 'from local file'
    • Select O:\PRIV\CPHEA\PESD\COR\CORFILES\Geospatial_Library_Projects\StreamCat\MetaData\completed_metadata\StreamCat_metadata_[today's date].json
  4. Add a 'Yes' to 'MetadataPublished' column in StreamCat Control table

Once the editor is filled out completely, none of the required fields should be highlighted with a red 'X'. Click on the paper airplane icon at the bottom right hand side of the page. This icon will be highlighted in green if all of the information is valid.

You will receive a message that the Metadata has been submitted succesfully.
