Replace/remove built-in widgets #66
Comments
Could be relevant to be worked on along issue #40, which requests for additional customization to the home screen like the capability to add widgets to the main screen. |
The version you are requesting improvement for is outdated. Please check the latest release and feel free to iterate on your suggestion. |
I've tested this version, which is significantly different from the Play Store one. I appreciate the fact that the time and battery widgets of the main screen have been replaced with one for date, as it's an actually useful information to have and it's missing from the Android status bar in most cases. I believe my general suggestion still applies however. The user could have the option to replace this date widget, or assign other widgets as suggested in #40. I don't think it's the vision you were going for however, and that's okay as well. If so, what I would suggest would be to make this date widget more "powerful" with some additional customization, like the ability to display calendar events, the time of another location, or something like that. I'm not sure what else could be useful but just a general idea. |
Also the ability to move that date widget around(e.g., to the top of the screen) would be useful and doesn't go against the vision of the launcher. |
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I had configured my status bar to display the time with seconds already, so having the time showing also appearing as a non-removable widget within Stario feels redundant. Even without the seconds, it feels redundant to have the time shown in both places.
Describe the solution you'd like
Allow the user to replace built-in widgets with others of his choosing.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Disabling the status bar solves the redundancy with the clock widget, but also removes the ability to see if you have notifications pending easily.
