Omitting or Over-Specifying maxSockets in lib-storage's Upload Class Causes Socket Hang Up or Aborted Errors

I'm sequentially uploading around 800 files (each about 300KB) to S3. However, near the end of the upload process, I start encountering "socket hang up" or "aborted" errors. When I set maxSockets to 5 or lower, everything works fine. What might be causing these errors?
