@cyberwizardinstitute/participants

if you have a windows machine and need a linux install, it would speed things up a lot if you could bring a usb flash drive that is 1gb or more. it's ok if you don't have one, but if you do, please bring it.

if you haven't already, try to figure out what kinds of project you might want to work on. to get the most out of cwi it will help if you have a project in mind. if you don't have an idea of a project, no worries, but it will help if you do.

here are some project ideas to get you thinking:

  • a blog for your website
  • a simple browser game
  • programs to help you automate mundane tasks
  • a funny text generator that you can connect to twitter, etc.
  • interactive art with code
  • a visualization of some data
  • music/sound art
  • photo and video manipulation

see you at 1pm on monday at sudo room (4799 shattuck, oakland, ca)! feel free to come a bit earlier to get acquainted, etc.

if you have any questions, please post them here.

also, check out this compendium of external resources we've started preparing: https://github.com/cyberwizardinstitute/course-map/wiki/External-Resources

if you're not sure where to start, i would encourage starting with bash/shell and then javascript.

Only the first day is for getting up to speed, but the bulk of the time every day will be for working on people's own projects with help from facilitators. http://cyber.wizard.institute/calendar.html
