Use integer type or numeric in returned data.tables?

Some end points return objects that contain integers, I have in general across the pacakge coerced these to numeric types in the data.tables returned. I wanted to keep uniformity across the package.

Would it be beneficial to keep these as integer does anyone have a preference?
