Description

I am using linux container mode of Docker Desktop in my Windows OS

I want to open my vscode project inside linux container so that it will have access to WSLg

I am able to start docker via
sudo docker run -it -v /tmp/.X11-unix:/tmp/.X11-unix -e DISPLAY ubuntu
and then successfully run xcalc

but when I add following lines to my devcontainer.json and open it in container

	"runArgs": [
		"-e DISPLAY",
	],
	"mounts": [
		"source=/tmp/.X11-unix,target=/tmp/.X11-unix,type=bind",
         ]

then I get error

docker: Error response from daemon: invalid mount config for type "bind": bind source path does not exist: /tmp/.X11-unix.
See 'docker run --help'.

when I enter to docker-desktop linux distribution manually

wsl -d docker-desktop
ls /tmp/.X11-unix/

then I see that there exists /tmp/.X11-unix/ directory

what I am doing wrong and how I can access to the /tmp/.X11-unix from devcontainer?

Reproduce

  1. clone https://github.com/devcontainers/template-starter
  2. add following lines
	"runArgs": [
		"-e DISPLAY",
	],
	"mounts": [
		"source=/tmp/.X11-unix,target=/tmp/.X11-unix,type=bind",
         ]
  1. run code . in template-starter dir
  2. open repo in container

Expected behavior
