Hi,
This isn’t a code issue, but I couldn’t find another way to share this feedback.
I have been following the forum regularly for the last 10+ years, posting questions and occasionally participating in discussions. It was a great place for the community. I understand that it was the Eclipse Foundation, not the Scout team, that decided to close the forum.
As suggested in the forum’s final post, I went to Stack Overflow with the
eclipse-scout
tag to ask about enabling the search function in the columns table of the table organizer form. Since it was my first question on Stack Overflow, I had to post it in the "Staging Ground" for review. A few hours later, my post was edited and marked as off-topic by someone who had no prior activity with the eclipse-scout tag. They didn’t provide any feedback on why it was off-topic and didn’t respond when I asked for clarification. After a day without progress, I had to delete my post. After reading more about Stack Overflow guidelines, I understand why my question was off-topic—it didn’t describe a specific issue or include code. Instead, I was asking for recommendations based on a use case. But that means Stack Overflow isn’t the right place for such discussions. And unfortunately, there’s no alternative.
Would you consider opening GitHub Discussions for Eclipse Scout, as mentioned in the final forum’s post ? This would provide a place for broader discussions beyond strict technical Q&A. I realize the forum’s community wasn’t huge, but having no dedicated space to discuss Scout in general is a real loss.
Thank you for your time.
Nils
