What Happened?

Sometimes a black area covers the whole screen excluding wingpanel, the alt-tab switcher and the multitasking view. It makes the dock hide, but doesn't cover it. It behaves pretty much like a window that's always on top and visible on all workspaces.
This is how it looks like with one display (notice that it makes the dock hide):

This is how it looks like with two displays (notice that it stretches to the top part of the lower display):

Steps to Reproduce

I'm not aware of the exact reproduction steps. I believe it happens mostly when I'm in a discord call. No applications open except two or three windows of Chrome.
Also an interesting behavior is when the blackness appears, it can temporarily be disabled by the workspace switching gesture. It reappears whenever new windows are drawn - i.e. changing to another window, receiving a notification or even opening the right click context menu in chrome

Expected Behavior

No blackness should appear
