Akshaya (I prefer Shaya!) (she / her)

How I get my best work done πŸ‘·β€β™€οΈ

  • Instrumental music in the background to relax
  • Taking breaks and coming back with a refreshed mind 🧠
  • Jokes and banter to lighten the mood πŸ₯‚
  • Clear and concise sprints/user stories!

The role I usually take in a team 🌸

For now, I can only say based off of how I've been in all the project teams so far.

I think I do best as the person who lightens the mood with banter, but I do also like taking responsbility when the rest of the team doesn't want to!

More details coming soon! ⌚

My communication style πŸ‘€ πŸ‘‚

  • I am generally an open person so I really like to give my opinion and make jokes and do everything in a light hearted way.

  • I don't do well when communication get too serious as my motivation falters easily. πŸ˜ͺ

  • But not to worry as when it comes to deadlines and helping the team to succeed I can get very focused! πŸ’―

What I value 🌞

  • To me the best moments in life include happiness and comfort!

  • I struggle to focus if there are tensions or hurdles in communication within teams/cohort.

  • So I really like when others make me feel comfortable and valid in my opinions/the space I take up πŸ‘

  • I enjoy doing the same back so that in the end everyone is open and comfortable with each other.

What people misunderstand about me πŸ”ˆ πŸ”Š

  • Sometimes I can be very vocal, and sometimes I can be very reserved, depending on my mood πŸŒ• !

  • I like to call myself an extroverted introvert.

  • Please don't take it personal as I'm generally a very approachable person anyways 🎈

  • Also, if I'm more reserved during a project, it could be that I'm still trying to get my head around all the bits of knowledge we need to apply. I really appreciate it if the team members could be patient with me or help me understand better where needed πŸ˜„

How I like to get my feedback πŸ‘Œ

I would prefer any sort of feedback to be prefaced with compliments (or just with kindness) as I believe in positive criticism 🌀️

Technical strengths & weaknesses πŸ’»

πŸ’“

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JS
  • Design/UI/UX
  • Basic SQL

πŸ’”

  • Networks (API, Servers, etc)
  • File structure (in other words how all of the things we learned line up together!)
  • More complicated SQL throws me off (still adjusting to the syntax)
  • Node 😨

More Coming soon! ⌚

Interests (programming or otherwise!) πŸ₯³

  • I love dancing (of any type!) -- I've been pole dancing as a hobby for the past year πŸ’ƒ
  • I'm a long-time badminton player 🏸
  • I did bouldering (rock climbing on boulders w/o harnesses) for a year at uni and loved it so much! πŸ§—β€β™€οΈ Hope to pick up that sport again soon, anyone up for it? πŸ€”
  • I love listening to music (everything from kpop, post-rock, alt rock, jazz, rnb, rap)
  • I am a horror/zombie-phile 🧟 πŸ§Ÿβ€β™€οΈ πŸ™€
  • I loooveeee prototyping and design! I just found this out recently πŸ’β€β™€οΈ

Shaya is really funny in a team dynamic. When pair programming, she knows the exact time when we should stop going down the rabbit hole we nearly went down and take a step back for a sense check, and then walking us through the steps which I really appreciate. Love her creativity with CSS as well πŸ†

Shaya has a refreshing way of approaching problems, she knows when to ask for help or when to take a very much needed break. Shaya is very good with the design but also has very good problem-solving skills. It's always fun working with Shaya she brings a lot of comic relief when things get stressful.

Shaya learns fast, thinks fast and codes fast. When we are stuck in a bug, she can think of many different ways to solve it and she knows when to ask for help. She loves CSS and her CSS skills are lovely. We had lots of fun together when we were doing our project and I would love to work with her again.

A joy to work with! Happy to go with the flow and a dab hand a CSS, Shaya is great at understanding complex code and appreciates being given the chance to explain code that she hasn't written. She is incredible at design and UI and will have great tips for you for both. She also has interesting perspectives on life plus loves a good/bad pun.
