I stumbled on this app in the app store the other day while looking for ways to control my pi remotely to basically do the same as what you are doing.
Your iOS app looks amazing.

Hi there and thanks so much for your kind comments.

Your suggestions sound great and it is something I have been looking in to with regards to streaming using the PiCamera MJPEG feed. I have looked at other ways of doing it using VNC and so on, but I want this to be as out of the box as possible without the need to install additional packages.

I had to shelve activity for a while whilst I chased other projects (I have too many) but this is definitely something that needs to be considered given the new lenses are manually focussed.

With regards to the new form of autostart at boot and logging, if you have reworked how this is done, it would be great to see if this is something that can be updated in the support guide. Aware that I am using rc.local - as this was the most easy/direct way of doing it the time. Logging is definitely an issue as well so any improvements is welcomed!

For the streaming part I have a solution using raspivid but not PyCamera in python yet.

Something like this.... '''raspivid -n -ih -t 0 -rot 0 -w 1280 -h 720 -fps 15 -b 1000000 -o - | ncat -lkv4 8081'''

NOTE: you need to '''sudo apt-get install ncat''' for the above command to work

As for the logging, packaging, and making it a service, I will start working on that in the next few days.

Ok I got the logging and the service stuff done. this is rad!
You can use any pi with internet access and just run these commands. I hosted a repo on github pages (free).
When the service is installed there is a script that runs and adds a service to systemctl and starts it.
The service is also removed upon package removal
Super clean way to do this. check it out!

Install the gpg key and then the repo

1. curl -s --compressed "https://jcksnvllxr80.github.io/aw_rpi_ppa_repo/KEY.gpg" | sudo apt-key add -
2. sudo curl -s --compressed -o /etc/apt/sources.list.d/my_list_file.list "https://jcksnvllxr80.github.io/aw_rpi_ppa_repo/my_list_file.list"
3. sudo apt update

Install the service

1. sudo apt install berrycam

Uninstall the service

1. sudo apt remove berrycam -y

starting, stopping, restarting, or getting the service status

1. sudo systemctl start berryCam
2. sudo systemctl stop berryCam
3. sudo systemctl restart berryCam
4. sudo systemctl status berryCam

If you are interested in adding any of this to your code, what would be the best approach for me to get it into your repo?
...pull-request, branch, etc?

Fantastic work. Sorry I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but will get back to you. Great to see community members improving the BerryCam script and thanks for all the contribution so far!
