I generally like the plugin and appreciate the developer's efforts to create this in their spare time!

However, I'd love to see some improvements:

Bug: Pattern is not inserted within selected sketch profile but on a random plane.

Enhancement: Make it fill the voids for non-rectangular shapes

Feature: define exact "wall thickness"

Feature: have it avoid certain angles (i.e. horizontal cell borders) so it can be printed upright on a 3d printer

Maybe some inspiration could be taken from here: https://github.com/WebSVG/voronoi

Hi @alexvonsiebenthal -

Thanks for the feedback. I'm starting to collect ideas for an update and will take your input as guidance.

Hi @alexvonsiebenthal -

I've made an update the add-in that allows setting a "Cell Gap" in millimeters for Curved and Linear cells (not shapes).

https://github.com/hanskellner/Fusion360Voronoi/blob/master/README.md#cell-gap

It seems to work in most cases. Although, I've noted there are a times when a cell might still be too close to another. In that case, you can manual edit the distance to clean it up.

That should help for wall thickness.

@hanskellner might be merged with #10

State update:

  • > Bug: Pattern is not inserted within selected sketch profile but on a random plane.

This is not longer happening on the current version

  • > Enhancement: Make it fill the voids for non-rectangular shapes
Screenshot 2022-02-09 at 17 39 58

Improved, the addin is filling voids for non rectangular shapes with not useing "clip intersecting" which will somehow eliminate also elements that are fitted at the border parts but not actually intersecting.
Additionally: use relaxation and padding is making these spaces shown above much less than this.
General blac spaces issue/enhancement should seperatly be followed up in #10

  • > Feature: define exact "wall thickness"

Implemented with using cell gap at the current version

  • > Feature: have it avoid certain angles (i.e. horizontal cell borders) so it can be printed upright on a 3d printer

That one is not implemented currently and should be considered for future road map
E.g. let the user set the angle and let him select a reference plane/edge for this
Would be a great feature then.
Angles like 30° or for not tuned/bambu printers a angle of 45° could be considered as default

@hanskellner if you can, maybe update the issue title on this for clarification and issue separation so the issues can be marked as checked if resolved more clearly and seperated
