Faceting #204
Comments
The problem is that Facetting will not work unless there is a repeated line of data. We have experimented in every possible way and this is what we have come up with. |
I think that makes sense to me -- the point of faceting is to cluster things with the same value, and if you don't have anything that shares a value, I'm not sure how faceting helps? Is the idea to isolate and display only one particular data point? Could you tell us more? |
Hi Quinn!
It's stranger than you think -- it only needs a repeated value in the "description" line of the "travels" spreadsheet! At least, that's our current fix. It doesn't need (and can't have) a repeated value in other fields like "Travels_ID", of course.
I've figured out the other things, this is the only oddity left.

Could you email me the spreadsheet (it won't attach to a GitHub issue) and what you're trying to get it to do? |
Is there anything that could be causing the Facet button to just not work? I wrote to Quinn about this in December but my RA thought we had solved the problem. I don't believe we had. The Timeline and Timespan buttons are fine, but Facet is just dead grey. I have tried multiple browsers, including Chrome, and that's not the issue this time!
