List out the ux/ui issues in top navbar and footer with added feature:
To display the Intermine version number (ex. 4.2.0) and API version number (ex. 30) somewhere in the interface.
To include system branding/ identity

This design fixes a lot of things! However, my main concern is that the header and footer are too tall. Remember that we need to reserve most of the window height for the main content in the middle.

For the header, how about removing the top part which only contains "BLUEGENES" and instead show the Bluegenes logo to the far left of Home? We can write "Bluegenes" somewhere in the footer instead. I think we still should mention InterMine in the footer as well. Maybe it could say "Powered by InterMine with Bluegenes" and sneak in the version numbers there (we should probably include Bluegenes version number as well)?

The current design of the footer could work if the front page is tall and you have to scroll down to see the footer, but currently the footer is always visible on most pages. In this case, I think we need to make it more compact. It can be taller than the original design, but not by much!

Regarding adding the Bluegenes logo to the far left of the navbar, could you try with both #3 (comment) and #3 (comment) logos? [=

As for the footer, I would try the suggestions you made but it would increase cognitive load and hindrance with so many elements.
I think the reason we have footer visible on the pages is because of amount of content and I suppose it's obvious to scroll down for the footer content to be visible, hence 'footer'
I'll share another design with the changes though (:

footer is visible at the end of page on scrolling
the other logo is quite not done right now, let me know till now if the design fits.

As mentioned on the call, the new navbar and footer look amazing and we will work towards implementing this. Great job! 💯
