Labeled LaTeX equation in RMarkdown / bookdown syntax is not rendered #302

To reproduce the issue the following code may be used:

\begin{equation}
  f\left(k\right) = \binom{n}{k} p^k\left(1-p\right)^{n-k}
  (\#eq:binom)
\end{equation}

it represents equation in RMarkdown / bookdown syntax.

Remarkable 1.87 does not render it:
