I am not personally experienced with DDS, so I may not precisely can compare it with SOME/IP. Even though DDS is known as a data-centeric pub/sub protocol, but technically speaking both protocols support RPC, Fire-Forget, and Pub/Sub communication patterns. So, you should not face architectural challenges in your application layer while migrating to DDS from communication pattern perspective. Besides that, same as SOME/IP there are open-source implementations of DDS namely Fast-DDS or Cyclone DDS. So, there will even less challenges from application lifetime perspective while migrating to DDS from SOME/IP. However, from following perspectives, there are more requirement to be considered while using DDS over SOME/IP:
