Per https://docs.espressif.com/projects/esp-chip-errata/en/latest/esp32s3/03-errata-description/index.html#sar-adc-the-digital-controller-dma-of-sar-adc2-cannot-work,continuous sampling on ADC2 is broken on the S3. Pin 15 (the current battery pin is ADC2 channel 4. Switch that pin to an ADC1 channel.
