.net8.0 compatible?

Is Microsoft.VisualStudio.Threading .net8.0 compatible? It claims only .net6 and it's breaking a .net8 application I am trying to import it in to.

Yes, we use it in .NET 8. It targets .NET 6 and not 8 because it has nothing no specialized code that requires .NET 8.
If you share details of the break, we might be able to help.

Thanks. I am attempting to add Microsoft.VisualStudio.Threading via NuGet package manager to this project:

NuGet enters a fully unusable state that looks like this:

The error on my package manager console is:

Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: versionRange

All the dependencies become yellow triangle.

I asked about .net8 support because if I move the package reference to the conditional for standard2.0 and net472 then everything goes back to normal. It works fine for those targets and then simply complains it isn't available to .net8. This is likely due to something strange about that project file.

My guess is the conditions in the ItemGroups that surround the PackageReference items are confusing it.
Try adding the PackageReference item by hand to the project file and see if it works.

That is what I meant by moving to the conditional for standard2.0 and net472. There are 3 ItemGroups that contain package references. If I manually paste <PackageReference Include="Microsoft.VisualStudio.Threading" /> in to the ItemGroups with conditionals, it works. For both the one that targets 472 or the one that targets standard2.0. If I paste the package reference into the ItemGroup with no conditionals then the project is broken.

Never-mind, I am new to this library they are using a Directory.Packages.props file which controls packages outside of the .csproj file. When I added the package there it fixed the issue. Nothing to do with this library at all. The problem was just me being new to this project.
