Various options exist.

Looking into Dash with Leaflet.

• Need to find a WMS source of tiles for NZ
  • Satellite imagery - clipped a bit close to coast - https://data.linz.govt.nz/layer/109401-nz-10m-satellite-imagery-2021-2022/services/tiles/
  • Base imagery (stitched areal imagery) - clipped way to close to the coast - https://basemaps.linz.govt.nz/
  • EPSG:3857 supported by both LINZ and also leaflet
• Need to figure out how to add - note leaflet appears to not understand getcapabilities files

Note I also looked at the regional maps provided by DigitalEarthPacific https://maps.digitalearthpacific.org/
This appears to be built on https://docs.terria.io/guide/ which is OSS but also has software plans. It is out of CSRIO https://www.csiro.au/en/research/technology-space/data/terria
And may provide more capability than we need (does digital twin stuff). It's 2-D capabilities are built on leaflet.
