We chatted about this in the SIG meeting today, and there are differing opinions. One school of thought is that this encourages users to upgrade and supports Spring Boot 3+. Another school is that this is bothersome for users who are stuck on older versions and cannot upgrade easily. For now, I believe we decided that keeping 8 while just overriding for the spring submodule(s) is the way to support the broadest user base. @open-telemetry/java-contrib-approvers do you agree? |
