Summary

The 0900 UTC heartbeat was missed on 9 April due to plutus chain index synchronization being incomplete.

Assessment

Monitoring caught the issue within regular European/American operating periods for Orcfax which meant a datum could be published manually with an approx 10-15 minutes gap between valid datum on-chain.

Additional Notes

The plutus-chain-index is a legacy component Orcfax are working to replace within the COOP stack.

Technical improvements

We are investigating:

1. Replacing the plutus chain index in the COOP implementation.
2. Implementing improved retry methods for the Orcfax network so it can self correct sooner.
