Update:
Resolved!
I needed to go through the process for for storing settings in the on-board memory, specifically Address Bit 3! (See the NVS section in the docs on the High Nibble page. Now it's all working great and performance is as expected. Using CROMIX with multiple users is amazing!
Another tip: if you are refreshing the ESP32 using the command line tools, you will probably get an error unless you remove the ESP from the computer kit first.
Because I'm a very lucky boy, I have a Cromemco (thanks David!) and a IMSAI8080 kit.
I have just finished building the Z1 and updating to the latest firmware and disk image.
The Z1 boots, however:
It will not join my home network and instead always acts as an Access Point. The conf file set-up is identical to the IMSAI8080 conf file (although with a different host name of course), and WIFI.sta.scan=1 on both. What might be wrong?
Performance seem very sluggish.. I have booted into various OS images, it crawls and pauses in the middle of a DIR for example. It's set to a 4Mhz Z80.
Any suggestions?
thanks
-John
