How to add article type in citation?

In https://quarto.org/docs/reference/metadata/citation.html we see an example with type: article-journal. But when I try to use it, I see an error about incorrect yaml. I am confused on how to use this.

The citation field mentioned in https://quarto.org/docs/reference/metadata/citation.html is used to provide information on how the current article (the .qmd page) should be cited

Quarto validates YAML and only a specific set of values is supported. Our schema follows the values from link above

I was able to insert almost everything I need in the JATS xml via the citation tag:

Still, I wasn't able to find out how to

1. add the journal-id (e.g. "se")
2. add article-categories (aka heading)

I was expecting to write something like:

instead of using citation. How does it work? The .qmd is sent to pandoc which transforms it into JATS?

BTW, is it possible to generate JATS with DTD 1.1? Quarto already uses DTD 1.2 but Scielo is still on 1.1
