App Settings Match Conflict
Multiple app settings match the app at "C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe" with the same priority, please change on of them: "Windows Service: License Manager" or "Windows Service: Wdi Service Host"

What did you expect to happen?:
N/A

How did you reproduce it?:
It just appeared today.

there has been a similar issue reported 1.5y ago safing/portmaster-ui#358

Fwiw, I still experience this on 1.6.5. I could attach my debug logs as well, but unsure if that would be helpful since I am not getting exactly the same warning as OP, just that it's also pointing to svchost.exe

Same issue here. svchost.exe is detected with multiple different names (matching the SvcHost service names?), and Portmaster adds them separately, but considers them as conflicting settings "with the same priority".

I think Portmaster should either:

  • add svchost with a profile matching the executable path rather than the service name
  • recognise that the two app profiles have identical rules, so they don't actually conflict
  • actually treat separate app profiles with different matching rules as different, regardless whether the executable is the same (if the matching rules are different, why would they conflict?, and if they do, why is matching the service name instead of the executable even an option?)
  • present an option to merge the two entries: (at the moment it's possible by editing the app profile by hand and adding a matching rule, but it's quite hidden and not very convenient)
  • present a way to change the priority (it's presented as the problem in the error message, yet I can't find how to fix that in the UI; very confusing)

Along with a new variation of the same error above, In the last few days my Portmaster service has started to crash regularly? Has anyone else's starting doing the same thing?
