I remember watching the Halo 3 Bonus Content DVD as a kid. They covered all aspects on how the game was made and that's when 3D art as a career caught my attention.
I first began 3d modeling with Autodesk Maya in school; easy to learn but lacking functionality. I then learned Modo out of school because I heard how powerful it was on the Polycount Forums; and it was true! It had tons of modeling tools and amazing community scripts (Seneca's Scripts anyone?). It even had macros for those that didn't know how to code (which I didn't at the time).
In the end, I couldn't afford either and had to settle with Blender. Not gonna lie, I've never been so frustrated in my life. Blender had even more hotkeys than Modo! and that was saying a lot, but I persisted because nothing else fit my needs.
And now... I'm the happiest I've ever been.
Blender's 2.80 makeover came at the perfect moment and the steady updates alleviated most of my frustrations with it. Thanks to the Python API I was able to start creating my own scripts and even replicate some techniques I saw Vitaly Bulgarov do in XSI, which I could never do in Maya. Blender suddenly became my favorite 3D tool.
I now share those scripts with others in the form of the Armored Toolkit addon hosted Publicly on GitHub.
If you have the means and the will to donate then awesome! Regardless, I hope you find my scripts useful.
