There are some very interesting statements in this text. I cut them whenever I had no clue what they meant. I think financial statement analysis makes more sense as a title. This chapter has so much on the statements (balance sheet, etc. make up a huge portion) and financial ratios technically go beyond accounting. I made corresponding changes apart from the file name – should you reject the proposal. On the graphs: I would like to merge the liability statement graphs into one. Save some space in the process. Additionally, the colours freak me out a little… I would combine all downloads into the download section. I think it makes little sense to introduce FMPAPI in the balance sheet subsection. Some users might just skip this part, as they want to get to the real deal. I would cut the descriptions of the empirical ratios, or at least, make them less imposing. Then, we might just briefly mention: Higher is usually better, but excessively high is also a questionable observation. With the debt-to-asset and interest coverage scatter plot, we could show them in a second plot, how to add a line for the relation between the two variables. Would be exciting for some, I guess?! Alternatively, add it as an exercise? |
Thank you
I can make them black and white and think about combining the breakdowns for the book.
Hm, I'm in favor of introducing FMPAPI in the top, but downloading stuff that has formally not been introduced yet breaks the flow imho.
Ok, go ahead and cut as much as you like.
Exercise, the chapter is already too long. |

Then, mention it in the opening paragraphs? Like: This chapter relies on package FMPAPI, which is great and does XY. This way, we do not bury the relevant information in a balance sheet discussion.
Black and white is not necessary, but these colors are just very aggressive. Might also be the text font that triggers me?! Compared to all our other graphics, this is below our usual standards imho. I will push other changes soons |

This PR is WIP until each new chapter has a full first draft.
