Trial ended suddenly before 14 days?

I previously bought BetterDisplay. Today I clean installed the OS on a new Mac and added a newly downloaded BetterDisplay. Initially I had all features, but within 8 hours when I launched the app again, I noticed the trial had expired.

Obviously, it's your call on how long you offer a trial, but I wondered if this was deliberate, or maybe a bug.

The trial is 14 days long which is rather generous I think. However it might be possible that you activated the trial beforehand and only 8 hours left?

Odd. It is a build to order shipped out of China this week. I did do a migration initially, but cancelled that, chose Reset, which reactivated the Mac and then did a setup as New.

Maybe they/you hide the trial somewhere that persists that treatment? Still, odd it didn't do Trial mode straight away, if that was the case.

Not sure, if the migration was completed and the app started, the Paddle license files might have carried over - that could I think create an issue. But Paddle is a bit of a black box for me (it's closed source obviously for security reasons), so I am not sure what exactly is going on inside.

Agreed. Yet, why would it time me out within a day? I've had the licensed version on my donor Mac for many months (and had kept it up-to-date, whilst missing the whole V2 fun).

Not sure why it did that, must have some reason but can't think of one. :)

But yes, v1.x versions don't update to v2.x due to the fundamental changes in the app and incompatibility of stored settings.

Yeah, but I was oblivious to V2, as V1 said up-to-date. Apple offer an additional upgrade option notification for Mac OS, as well as update options. More faff I know. 😉

have similar issue - app installed yesterday, wanted to test flexible scaling. after setting 'edit the system configuration of this display model' and system restart - boom - app is no longer in trial version.

Hi there - the trial is normally 14 days. I am aware that sometimes Paddle invalidates the trial for no obvious reasons. This might be because of the app is installed on a second-hand Mac (which had the app installed before) or some issue with the hardware ID. I am not exactly sure about the reasons though. Sorry about the problem!
