I have a portable monitor that doesn't remember its last brightness setting, both when being reconnected (physically plugged into my Mac for both power and signal) or when turning on after sleep. I have been able to auto-set the brightness upon wake from sleep using these settings: Unfortunately this doesn't seem to help with the initial connection itself. Each time I reconnect the monitor (while the Mac is already turned on), the brightness reverts to the default and BetterDisplay doesn't seem to set it back to the desired value. Is there some other setting or way that I can have it auto-set the brightness upon reconnection? |

Tested, this should work fine as it is. The display's "DDC communication settings" > "DDC values on startup" must be set to "Write last used values to display". The write happens right after detection so if the display is slow to wake up and during wake up it does not receive DDC commands, Settings > Applications > Advanced > "Configuration delay" must be configured to 3-5 seconds. |
