Ravnur presents the Ravnur Media Player - a web-based media player that can stream adaptive bitrate video and audio. It uses the open web standards MediaSource Extensions and Encrypted Media Extensions.
As mentioned by Microsoft documentation, Azure Media Player only supports media streams from Azure Media Services. As an alternative, RMS recommends a Ravnur Media Player.
The installation procedure is described in the Documentation guide. In general, you will just need:
- Include the Ravnur Media Player in your project by either adding the CDN link in the section of your HTML file or by installing it via npm and importing it into your project file.
- Initiate a new instance by providing the target element and styles.
- Set up the player with a media source and additional options.

If you used the CDN to load the Ravnur Player, updates are automatic. This means you will always be using the latest version without any additional steps.
For users who have added the Ravnur Player directly to their codebase, you will need to replace the updated JavaScript file manually. Download the latest version from the unpkg and replace the existing file in your project.
If you have installed the Ravnur Player via the NPM registry, you can update it using the NPM command. Run the following command in your project directory to update to the latest version:
