Checklist: prepare and submit SPARC datasets with SODA

This is the suggested workflow for preparing and submitting your SPARC datasets with SODA. It may differ if you are completing some of the steps without SODA for any reasons (SODA has required flexibility to accommodate that). All steps are mandatory (unless marked otherwise) if you wish to satisfy all SPARC requirements.

A. Prepare Dataset on Blackfynn

• A1. Connect your Blackfynn account with SODA (note: this is only required once)
• A2. Create dataset on Blackfynn
• A3. Add metadata to dataset
  • Add a subtitle
  • Add a description
  • Upload a banner image
  • Assign a license
• A4. Manage dataset permissions:
  • Make PI of the SPARC award the owner of the dataset
  • Give access to other members/teams who may need to contribute to the dataset (note: optional)

B. Prepare Metadata Files

• B1. Connect your Airtable account with SODA (note: this is only required once)
• B2. Provide information about your award
• B3. Prepare submission file
• B4. Prepare dataset description file
• B5. Prepare subjects file (available in SODA soon)
• B6. Prepare samples file (available in SODA soon, note: required only if your study includes samples)

C. Prepare Dataset

• C1. Specify files to be included in your dataset
• C2. Request manifest files to be auto-generated
• C3. Specify metadata files to be included
• C4. Review and validate that your dataset meets SPARC requirements (available in SODA soon)
• C5. Generate dataset directly on Blackfynn

D. Share with Curation Team

• Share with the Curation Team to add your dataset to their queue for review (it is highly suggested to not make any changes after this step until you are contacted by the Curation Team)

E. Post-curation steps (after dataset is approved by the Curation Team and the Investigators)

• E1. Share dataset with the SPARC Consortium as Embargoed dataset (available in SODA soon)
• E2. Send pre-publishing review (available in SODA soon)
