FontAwesome seems to have not been updated for quite some time, and its support for XeLaTeX is somewhat lacking xdanaux/fontawesome-latex#16. Given our need for CJK support necessitates the use of XeLaTeX, it is recommended to switch to FontAwesome5.
Fontawesome 5 also enable us support
