My name is Sam Blechman and I am a data analyst in Dr. Erik Wright's lab in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Pittsburgh. I will complete my master's degree in May of 2025 and am exploring data science and data analytics roles.
In my current role, I mine and analyze electronic health record (EHR) data to study the effect of antibiotic treatment heterogeneity across a large and diverse health system (UPMC). I use causal inference methods to compare patient outcomes as a function of antibiotic treatments, causal discovery to understand the role of antibiotic resistance in the clinic, and machine learning to stratify patients by risk of adverse outcomes.
