Portland_Scraping

The python functions in this repository collect and store data on real-estate transactions and property characteristics in Portland, Oregon. Based on a publicly available registry of all Portland's civic addresses, the script searches and scrapes information on three websites: multcoproptax.com, redfin.com, and portlandmaps.com (an updated version of the site is now live, making parts of this script obsolete). These data are stored and serialized as python pickles, and can be converted to a csv dataset with pickle2csv.py. The code in this repository was used to obtain the data for my paper on traffic calming.
