Installation
Installing the latest version of eXPeriencefox should not be hard to do, as there are minimal steps for a proper installation. Follow the steps closely and properly and you should have no problem with installing the theme.
To have a proper experience with the theme, you must use the following:
- Windows 10 x64 w/ a custom Luna visual style
- Mozilla Firefox 113.X
To download eXPeriencefox, click on "Code" and press the "Download ZIP" option. Alternatively, you can click this link to download the latest version.
Although, you need to note that GitHub archives the repository inside a eXPeriencefox-main
folder. You will need to extract the contents of the folder, not the folder itself.
Before installing eXPeriencefox, you will have to patch Firefox to allow it to load custom JavaScript, which will ensure a proper experience with the theme. If you're using the Windows eXPerience mod, you can skip this.
To install the patch, copy all files inside the ffroot
directory to your Firefox program directory, it is usually located either in:
%ProgramFiles%\Mozilla Firefox
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
Overwrite pre-existing files if prompted. After copying the files, restart Firefox.
To install eXPeriencefox, you will need to know where your Firefox profile is located. On a standard Windows eXPerience installation, the profile should be located in:
%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xwq26urm.default-release
If you are unsure or the follow directory does not exist, there are plenty of ways to find your profile folder.
To find your profile, open about:support
on Firefox.
Look for Profile Folder
under Application Basics and press the "Open Folder" button.
On your Firefox profile, look for a chrome
folder and open the folder.
Make sure all the contents of the folder are properly deleted.
To extract the theme, open the ZIP file using a program of your choice. 7-Zip will do the job and is the preferred choice. Extract all the files inside the chrome
folder. Make sure that you are NOT extracting the entire chrome
folder, and only the contents inside the folder.
After extracting the files to eXPeriencefox, restart Firefox. Changes will be applied upon restart. By default, the layout will be wrong. To customize the layout of Firefox, right click on any toolbar and press the "Customize Firefox" menu item. From there, enable the "Title Bar" option on the bottom left and customize the layout.
