A series of bromoketone precursors have been synthesised for undergraduate students to use in their lab classes.
All bromoketones were made from the corresponding ketones using the same bromination protocol involving NBS and tosic acid. The ketones required for KBS38, KBS40 and KBS42 were commercially available, while those required for KBS39 and KBS41 were synthesised.
