Import Reports
During development reports were created and linked to a particular users account (Robyn's). In the live version we want to have Reports editable by more staff, so will be creating a new user e.g. SpecifyReports. So that this user can access the reports, make sure that they are the one to do the initial import of reports into Specify 6 following the instructions below. They will then be able to edit the reports in SpiReport
Importing new reports or labels will add the report or label to the default reports and label that come with your database. They will not be overwritten. It is important to note that if Specify sends you a zipped report or label, DO NOT unzip it. Leave it zipped unless instructed to do otherwise.
- In Specify, go to System in the menu at the top and select Resource Import/Export… from the drop down menu.
You will receive a warning that any changes you make will require you to exit Specify. Make sure there are no changes you need to save, and click Continue if you do not. If you have changes to be saved, click Cancel, save the changes and repeat this step.
- In the window that appears, select Discipline from the drop down menu at the top of the window.
- Click the Report Resources tab to switch from Form Sets and highlight Add New Resource at the top of the list under Report Resources.
-
Click the Import button towards the bottom of the screen.
-
In the navigation window that appears, navigate to the file I sent you. Select the file and click Open. If the new report/label was zipped when Specify sent it to you, keep the file zipped.
-
Specify will exit.
-
When you log back into Specify, the label should be available for you.
